❓Tell me, an oil you really aren’t a fan of ❓Until recently my answer was Petitgrain, I just could not stand the aroma of it AT ALL. Then one day my nose didn’t turn away and I started saying I love it..... but why? Then I started to look into the Emotional side of this Essential oil and my answer for the sudden change of mind was there! I hate being fat more than I like shitty food. • Chinese is one of the hardest things to order. So much sugar and fried foods. But I don’t have to stay away from it, I just have to make wise choices. • People always tell me they can’t eat like me. The truth is they aren’t ready to make the necessary changes. It’s not always fun but this shit is so worth it. • I hated being uncomfortable. I hated not being able to do things other people could. I hated always wondering if I’d be comfortable or if I’d fit in “small” spaces. I hated getting bruises on my thighs when I sat in stadium seats. • I love not having to worry about any of that now. I love the energy. I love the strength. I love the mental clarity I’ve gained. I love the confidence. I love walking with my head held high knowing that I’ve worked and continue to work hard on my goals. • Be real with yourself, what’s stopping you? What major goals do you have that you’re not working toward? What’s your fear?

Who doesn’t love #tacos? The lentil filling for these romaine lettuce tacos can be enjoyed warm or cold, and it's so flavourful, you won't even miss the meat! If you’re looking for something a little heartier, feel free to pair it with corn tortillas instead of lettuce cups. Prep time: 5 min Cook time: 10 min Makes 4-6 servings 1 cup diced onion ½-1 Tbsp avocado oil 4 garlic cloves, minced 3 cups cooked lentils 1 tsp poultry seasoning ½ tsp each of chili powder and sea salt 1 tsp each of cumin and smoked paprika ¼ tsp honey or maple syrup ¼ tsp cayenne (optional) 1-2 chipotle peppers in Adobe sauce, minced (optional) 2 heads romaine or butter lettuce SAUTE the onions in avocado oil over medium-high heat for approx. 5 min until tender, stirring frequently. ADD the garlic, lentils, poultry seasoning, chili powder, cumin, smoked paprika, sea salt, and honey. If spiciness is desired, add the cayenne & chipotle as well. Continue to cook everything over medium-high heat for 5 min or until the mushrooms are tender and cooked through. Top 3 Cooking Oils Are — #1 Extra Virgin Olive Oil - heat to 375-400 - produces LEAST toxic compounds compared to ALL other cooking oils - most stable during cooking #2 COCONUT OIL - heat to 350-375 - saturated fat = stable cooking oil #3 AVOCADO OIL - virgin avocado oil heat 375-400 (expeller pressed) - refined avocado oil heat to 500 - refined = doesn’t use same chemical processing as RBDs, bit safer Side Note: Grapeseed oil is high in polyunsaturated fats, so during cooking most fats converted to trans fats + lots of toxic compounds were produced — so, BA-BYE grapeseed. I don’t know about you but fall/winter weather always puts me in the mood for baking. That, and the fact that I bought some organic bananas on sale last week & they are starting to look pretty pathetic sitting on my counter. You know the overripe banana stage where if you let them sit for just one more day, you’re probably going to have to throw them out?? Well, I am definitely not one for wasting food! So, I got busy & made this delicious vegan, gluten-free, refined sugar-free banana bread. And you know what? There’s not even any oil in it! That’s right! The fat comes straight from one of my favourite foods: AVOCADO! Many people don’t realize this but often in baking recipes (such as breads, muffins, or brownies), you can sub the oil for the same amount of mashed avocado. You still get the moisture & fat from the avocado, AND you get the added bonus of fiber, potassium, vitamin E & B vitamins. (You won’t find those in coconut oil!) . Prep time: 15 min Bake time: 75-80min 3 ripe bananas (about 1 ½ cups or 350g) ½ tsp pure vanilla extract 1 chia egg (1 Tbsp chia seeds + 3 Tbsp water. Allow to sit for 5-10 min) ½ medium ripe avocado (about 3 Tbsp mashed or 60g) ½ cup date puree* 2 Tbsp maple syrup 3 ½ tsp baking powder ¾ tsp sea salt 1 tsp ground cinnamon ¾ cup unsweetened almond milk or dairy-free milk 1 ¼ cup almond meal 1 cup + 3 Tbsp brown rice flour 1 Tbsp tapioca flour 1 ¼ cup gluten-free oats . *See comments for how to make date puree PREHEAT oven to 350F & line a 9x5-inch loaf pan with parchment paper. ADD all ingredients thru to the almond milk into blender or food processor. Process for 2 minutes until smooth. Add almond meal, brown rice flour & tapioca flour; process for 60-90 seconds, scraping down the sides as needed. Add oats & process another 30-60 seconds until mixed through. POUR into the loaf pan & distribute evenly. Bake for 75-80 min. It should be golden brown on top with cracks through the loaf & feel firm. ALLOW the loaf to cool completely before cutting into it, or it may be too tender to hold its form. ENJOY with nut butter, honey, or as is. Store leftovers in a covered container for up to 3 days, or freeze for longer term storage.

Omg .. new favourite food find! . . . . Asda's Extra Special 6 light and lean low fat pork sausages! Gluten free and tastes nice. For ages I used to buy the Heck sausages, they were ok but these are nicer and I'm allowed to eat more of these if I really want 😂! . . . These are low in fat and less saturated fat, the calories are low and the protein is decent per sausage. One sausage is 69 calories, macros as follows: 3.7g carbs, 1.6g fat and 11g Protein! I would certainly recommend these, go buy! . . . . I'm really enjoying finding new healthier options, it means I can alternate my meals and never get bored of eating the same foods like I used to 😊.

It's been a little over a week since finishing #liverrescue369 cleanse by medicalmedium... I wanted to give my body a chance to find balance as I eased back into my normal eating patterns before speaking to my experience of this #cleanse. And, the results are in! The Liver Rescue 3-6-9 cleanse was a success! To give some background: I am no stranger to poor digestion. I went into this with the hopes it would improve. For whatever reason, my stomach doesn't seem to produce enough hydrochloric acid, and if I don't take digestive enzymes with each meal, I suffer from gas, bloating, constipation... the whole gamut. Especially when I eat meals that are higher in protein & fat. (You might find this to be TMI, but... I'm a nurse & nutritionist, and idc 😜 lol) . While the enzymes I take provide a solution, they don't address the root cause of WHY I have poor digestion. This is why I wanted to do the cleanse. Here is how I felt during: 🔹️Never hungry 🔹️A little bloated in the evenings but this was likely due to the large quantities of brussels sprouts & asparagus that are eaten with dinner most nights 😅. 🔹️Good energy levels (except on the last day of the cleanse but this was b/c I was strictly taking in juice). . Here's what I learned about myself: 🔹My digestive system does NOT like raw garlic/onion - hellooo! bloaty belly! But, after making some recipe adjustments & having cooked or roasted garlic/onion instead, things calmed down. 🔹My body is happier when I consume the majority of my dietary fat in the afternoon & evening. 🔹Celery juice is an acquired taste 😅 . Results: ➡️Since finishing the #livercleanse, I have been able to cut the number of digestive enzymes I take with each meal by half, without any repercussions. ➡️I used to have abdominal bloating most evenings but this has resolved. ➡️I initially had an 8lb weight loss. I thought this might've been water weight but after a week of normal eating, things have evened out to a 6lb weight loss. . . . I'd recommend this cleanse to anyone suffering signs of an overburdened liver (see 11 posts back). Hopefully after a few more rounds, I'll be able to rid my use of digestive enzymes for good! 🤗 . . .

All the goodness in one plate: salmon toast, banana toast, and egg and avocado sauteed veggies🌈 Finishing November strong with a healthy plate of greens, since december is coming with all of it’s delicious cookies and candy! Stirfry with egg and avocado: 1/2 red paprika, cubed 1/2 small onion, cubed 1 garlic clove, minced Handfull spinach 1 Tbls Soysauce 1/2 Tbls veggie fond Pepper and cayenne 1 egg 1/2 small avocado Rice cake: 2 smoked salmon filee Quark Cucumber Sweet Paprika Seeds Ricecake Quark Banana Seeds Bipollen Fry the paprika, onion and garlic with the spices in oil in a pan for two minutes. Add the egg and stirr untill it is cooked. Lastly add the spinach, soysauce and fond. Serve with two rice cakes and avocado on top of the stirfry. Improvements are made when we want to better ourselves, our health,food intake and exercise. I’ve done this successfully for the last 2 years by creating a routine of gym,meal preparation,yoga and organisation. For someone that apparently didn’t have much time in there day for themselves let alone all the extra things I had on my plate. Learing to make time for myself. As you are your only no1. It had made a tremendous difference all round in my life. You'd think after just finishing a #livercleanse, I'd be 100% sick of salads by now... but, nope! Not when I've got this delicious dressing to coat my greens with! Seriously, I'm in love with this marinade 😍 And while it's not technically a vinaigrette because it lacks an oil component, it goes AMAZINGLY well drizzled over a fresh garden salad, or use it as a marinade to roast vegetables. (It goes super well with brussels sprouts!) . It's reminiscent of sweet chili Thai sauce but without all the refined sugar and unwanted preservatives. It’s super delicious and super quick to make. Just throw all the ingredients in a bullet blender or food processor, and it’s ready in less than 5 minutes. Alternatively, mince the garlic really well, and add all ingredients to a mason jar, giving it a good shake to make sure everything is well incorporated. Prep time: 5 minutes Makes about 2/3 cups of marinade 1 navel orange, juiced (about 4-oz fresh orange juice) 1 clove garlic 2 Tbsp organic maple syrup ¼ cup water ¼ tsp cayenne ¼ tsp smoked paprika ¼ tsp red pepper chili flakes ¼ tsp sea salt Toss the orange juice, garlic, maple syrup, water, and spices into a blender. Pulse until well blended. There is always a confusion when we have the option eat a certain food by cooking it or eating it raw, thinking which method is more beneficial for our health. Cooking the food can improve its taste and texture, but it also changes the nutritional value of the food, by destroying some of its vitamins due to the heat, while improving the availability of some other nutrient. ▫️Raw foods involves most raw vegetables and fruits. Even on the tough days you just gotta keep livin’, 𝐋-𝐈-𝐕-𝐈-𝐍. ⁣ ⁣ One more freakin’ day! 😲 One more day and i’m done with this 6 week challenge 💪🏼 And man I feel on fire 🔥 and damn proud of me’self too ☺️⁣ .⁣ This program has challenged me in the most amazingly physical & mental ways. It’s taught me to never give up, it’s shown me how capable I really am, and it proved to me that as long as you don’t give up you can’t lose.⁣ .⁣ That’s the thing peeps - it’s not about being perfect. It’s not an all or nothing thing. All it is is you commiting to doing something that’s good for your mind, body & soul and to not give up. Yea, you’ll have moments when you take a day or two off. Yea, you’ll have a weekend with friends where you drank too much or ate a whole pie to the face 🍕 😆 That’s ok - as long as you brush it off and get back up.⁣ .⁣ Choosing to live a healthy lifestyle is just that...LIVING. I ATE AN ENTIRE JAR OF PEANUT BUTTER IN ONE DAY I feel vulnerable sharing this but I know for a fact it can help others. I was preparing for a bodybuilding competition and I was less than 1 month out from the show. I was in Maine interviewing for my dream job. I had an extra day after the interview so I drove to the coast and stayed in the cheapest motel I could find. I drove to the closest grocery store for food that night and I couldn’t resist the peanut butter. I hadn’t had it in so long and it was calling my name! I think I even opened it on the way home. That night I ate the entire jar. I couldn’t stop. I had resisted it for so long and told myself it was off limits. Following that episode I would tell myself on and off that I won’t have it anymore. BUT you know what? THAT NEVER WORKED. Here is what I know works: 👉Allow yourself THAT food that you can’t stop eating once you start 👉Tell yourself you can have it. Yes, seriously tell yourself you can have it anytime you want. This takes away the scarcity. This is a HUGE mindset shift. IT TAKES TIME. YOU WILL FAIL. But everytime you fail, YOU LEARN. 👉Stop and think. When you want X food stop and think of your reasoning. Are you stressed? Are you emotional? Are you thirsty? Would something else sound better? Is it worth the calories? If it’s a food that physically disagrees with you is it worth the discomfort? Are there certain foods you never allow yourself to have? I basically top off all my salads with it haha🥰 They were perfect on top of this green curry too, together with the soft chickpeas inside the curry! I love the green colour of this curry. This little creation came as a result of me having tons of leftover leafy greens and cucumbers following the completion of my liver cleanse... I miscalculated the number of cucumbers for my cleanse ingredients and bought 10, instead of 5. Needless to say, I was in need of using them up if I didn’t want them to go to waste. (And if there’s one thing I despise, it’s wasting produce!... Seriously! 😳) . This soup is fresh, vibrant, and jam-packed full of fiber, minerals, and antioxidants. The papaya is added to give it a bit of a creamy/thickening component (and also because I had fresh papaya I need to use up!), but you could easily swap in half an avocado for the same effect. It’s best enjoyed chilled or at room temperature, as heating it will destroy some of the valuable nutrients contained within. If you are preparing ahead, I would recommend consuming within 24 hours so, again, you are minimizing nutrient loss by oxidation. Store in an airtight container in the fridge. Prep time: 5 minutes Makes about 4 cups or 2 servings 4 cups baby spinach 1 medium cucumber ½ cup of Maridol papaya (or ½ an avocado) 1 clove garlic 1-inch chunk fresh ginger Handful of parsley (about ¼ cup chopped) 3 Tbsp lemon juice ¼ to ½ cup of water, depending on your preferred level of consistency Toss all ingredients in a blender or food processor and pulse/blend until smooth. Divide into two bowls. Enjoy with cucumber noodles (aka. spiralized cucumbers – my new fav!) and fresh sprouts. So simple. So clean. So good! Does it get any better than that...oh yea they’re CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIES!⁣ ⁣ I’ve been making these the past few weeks and they are gooooood! Especially if you like chewy cookies. And they’re clean eating approved 🙌🏼 bonus!⁣ ⁣ 1 egg⁣ 1/3 cup coconut (or date) sugar⁣ ⁣ ☝️ mix that together⁣ ⁣ 1/2 cup almond butter⁣ 1/2 tsp vanilla extract⁣ 1/2 tsp salt⁣ ⁣ ☝️ add that to the egg mixture.⁣ ⁣ Stir in 2 Tbsp small chocolate chips.⁣ ⁣ Scoop out Tbsp dollops on a lined cookie - or BETTER get one of these ice cream scoops. Took me YEARS to buy one but they are the BEST baking tool i have imo. Bake at 325 for 6min. Rotate and bake 3 min more. 5 if you like them a bit crispier. ⁣ ⁣ They’re so good right out of the oven and basically any time...cuz they’re chocolate chip cookies 🍪 DUH!

Just because my #liverrescue369 cleanse is over doesn't mean I'm diving back into proteins and fats right away. All the hard work & meal prep I did these last 9 days isn't going to be undone in one meal... . That's why I'm easing back into normal life with the Liver Rescue Morning. This constitutes as hydrating with lemon water first thing upon waking up. (It's 9:30am: already, I've had 16-oz of lemon water & another 16-oz of nettle tea, which is also good for liver health!) . The next step of the LRM is avoidance of all radical fats until lunchtime. This includes nuts, seeds, animal products, oils, avocado, and coconut. According to  medicalmedium, this gives the liver a chance to continue its detoxing from overnight by providing it with healthy carbs from fruits & veggies for energy; and since fat takes a lot of energy for the liver to digest, avoidance of it until lunchtime allows it to focus on other important matters instead. You can do the LRM anytime as part of your daily, weekly or monthly routine to give your liver extra support. So, I'm enjoying this delicious #liverfriendly #smoothie for breakfast. The fruit brings in some sweetness with tons of antioxidants added by the papaya & blueberries, and the celery & fresh mung bean sprouts (I made them myself!) add a mild bitterness that balances well with the fruit. This smoothie makes you chew a little bit too (those sprouts!), so it'll take you a little longer to drink. Gotta use up all this leftover produce somehow, right?! Then, I'll be following this with a mid-morning snack of apples and dates, me thinks 🍎🤔😊 . 1 mango 1/2 cup Maradol papaya 1/2 frozen banana 1/2 cup wild frozen blueberries 1 stalk celery 1/2 cup fresh sprouts 1/2 cup water Combine everything in a blender and enjoy! Stay tuned for my review of the #liverrescue369 in the next couple days. I want to give my body a few days to adjust back to my normal diet before making any final conclusions on the efficacy of the cleanse, but so far this morning, I'm feeling energized, my tummy is flatter that is has been in a long time, and my skin is soft and glowing :) More to follow... but until then... have a great weekend everyone!! . . .

These are honestly mind blowingly delicious! 🤩 ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ My family even prefer this to the original- and it’s great to make a huge batch and toss with a protein for a quick tasty dinner😍⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👈On the left we have 50g nacho corn chips, 35g cheese and 1/2 avocado mashed into guacamole ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀ 👉On the right we have 200g sweet potato that I like to slice into coins, tossed with some Cajun spice/ chipotle spice. Sprayed with olive oil and then baked in the oven/ air fryer until cooked through and crispy! I then topped it off with 25g low fat cheese, and included 100g of crushed tomato salsa! . Day 9 of #liverrescue369: I'm a little late in my post today as I let myself sleep in, and then had to go pick up some fresh juices... . But... I'm in the home stretch! Today is all about liquids, and REALLY giving my liver a chance to focus on getting rid of any unwanted nasties in my body... I've got lemon water, celery juice from jusu_bar, cucumber/apple juice from greencuisineveg, and blended papaya smoothies to sustain me for the day. Needless to say, I'm keeping things low key for today... I went for a stroll downtown to get my juices, and I might do some gentle yoga, but Day 9 is all about staying in a state of "Rest, Digest, Restore" (aka. parasympathetic activated state). .
