Prof. Arronaux: Voi amate il mare, capitano? Nemo: Sì! L’amo! Il mare è tutto. Copre i sette decimi del globo terrestre. Il suo respiro è puro e sano. È l’immenso deserto dove l’uomo non è mai solo, poiché sente fremere la vita accanto a sé. 🌅 🌊 🏖️ #perfect_italia #kings_italia #living_europe #wu_italy #living_destinations #hello_worldpics #travel_drops #stunning_shots #master_shots #travellingthroughtheworld #topeuropephoto #landscapephotography #great_capture_italia #ig_europe #ig_italia #igersitalia #moodygrams #travelgramitalia #loves_united_italia #italiastyle20 #landscape_captures #italian_places #italia_dev #earth_reflect #sunset_vision #sunset_pics #sunsetlandscape #nature_perfection #naturephotography

The church was built as the seat of the Suffragio brotherhood, located in the small oratory not far from the Piazza del Duomo. It suffered considerable damage from the earthquake of 1703 so that the construction of a new building was proposed. The authorization to build a new church to replace the previous one arrived in 1708, but the building permit came only in 1713. The church could be opened to citizenship, without the current facade and dome, in 1719. The church was complete already in 1726 but throughout the eighteenth century it worked on the interior decoration and the erection of the characteristic facade. Completion took place in 1803 with the construction of the dome. In the 20th century the church underwent some restoration work. The earthquake of 6 April 2009 severely compromised the building, causing lesions on the façade and on the load-bearing walls, as well as the almost complete collapse of the dome. The restoration of the monument, financed in part by the French government with about 3 million euros, had an estimated total cost of 6 500 000 euros and a working time of 4 years. The restored church was reopened to the public on December 6, 2018 in the presence of the President of the Republic and a delegation from the French government. . . . . . . . #history #italy #ig_italia #view #sky #earthpix #ig_worldclub #igersitalia #instaitalia #worldplaces #historic #historical #abruzzo #italiainunoscatto #europe_gallery #italian_places #ig_europa #whatitalyis #igersitaly #italy_vacations #historyinpictures #laquila #italian_trips #browsingitaly #ig_italia_luglio #historicbuilding #ig_abruzzo #ig_laquila #volgoabruzzo #volgolaquila

Aug 18, 2019

Regola is the seventh district of Rome, indicated by R. VII. During the period of ancient Rome, this area belonged to the Campus Martius. In particular, in the current Rule there was the Trigarium, that is the stadium where the charioteers trained on the triga were trained, which was a chariot drawn by three horses. Also due to the frequent flooding of the Tiber, much of the area was marshy, and was reclaimed towards the end of the Middle Ages. In 1586, when the Borgo district was created, the districts became 14 and Regola became the VII with the name of Arenule et Chacabariorum; this name has still partly survived with the modern via Arenula. The construction of the Tiber walls in 1875 radically changed the face of the district, erasing all that reality that had been built around the river over the centuries. In the narrow space of the district there are buildings of all kinds: palaces, hospitals, churches, embassies, prisons and humble homes. The district was the birthplace of Cola di Rienzo and Verdone. . . . . . . . #history #italy #rome #ig_italia #view #earthpix #ig_worldclub #igersitalia #instaitalia #worldplaces #historic #historical #italiainunoscatto #igersroma #volgoitalia #italian_places #ig_europa #whatitalyis #igersitaly #italy_vacations #volgoroma #historyinpictures #ig_roma #ig_lazio #italian_trips #ig_rome #browsingitaly #ig_italia_luglio #historicbuilding #rione

Aug 18, 2019

Spello (Hispellum in Latin) is an Italian town of 8 562 inhabitants in the province of Perugia in Umbria. It was founded by the Umbrians to then be called Hispellum in Roman times. The remains of the walls, much larger in the past than we can admire today, attest to the greatness that the city had, as well as the archaeological remains that surround it. Devastating to Spello was the descent into Italy of the Barbarians who reduced it to a poor village. In the Lombard and Frankish age it was part of the Duchy of Spoleto, before moving to the Papacy. The town, however, mindful of the prosperity and relative autonomy it enjoyed in Roman times, soon became a free municipality with its own laws. In 1516 the municipality was given in fief by the Pope to the Baglioni family from Perugia, which he owned until 1648. In the fourth century Spello was a bishopric and in the early Middle Ages - with other neighboring dioceses now suppressed - it was for a very long time part of the vast diocese of Spoleto. From 1772 Spello is instead integrated in the diocese of Foligno. Nowadays it is part of the circuit of the most beautiful villages in Italy and boasts the trademark of tourist-environmental quality Orange flag, conferred by the Italian Touring Club. . . . . . . . #history #italy #ig_italia #view #earthpix #ig_worldclub #igersitalia #instaitalia #worldplaces #beautifuldestinations #historic #historical #italiainunoscatto #volgoitalia #italian_places #ig_europa #whatitalyis #igersitaly #italy_vacations #communityfirst #historyinpictures #italian_trips #browsingitaly #ig_italia_agosto #historicbuilding #yallersworld #ilikeitaly #ig_umbria #volgoumbria #spello

Aug 18, 2019

The Clitunno is a river that flows in Umbria, a tributary of the Topino. In 2011 UNESCO included the temple that stands on its shores among the heritage of humanity. Already known in antiquity (Clitumnus), it had as its god to protect the god Giove Clitunno, revered in the adjacent temple. There, in the month of May, the sacred clitumnalia were held in his honor. The temple was destroyed in the imperial era, but in the Lombard period it was rebuilt, partly with the original materials. Virgil, in the second book of the Georgics, dwells on the particular whiteness of the bulls and the flocks, which saepe your perfused sacred flumine. Virgil refers to the triumph of the Romans: in fact during the second Punic war they, allied with the Umbrians, forced Hannibal to flee following a battle near Spoleto (217 BC). It seems that at the time the river was navigable and therefore had a greater flow. In this regard we have a famous letter from Pliny the Younger. Today it is nothing but a small stream. Once upon a time there were sumptuous villas on its banks, while nowadays there are only sporadic and modest houses. According to some scholars, the change was due to the consequences of the great earthquake of Constantinople in 446, according to others to that of L'Aquila in 1703. In the springs a park was built in 1852 and an artificial lake was created. . . . . . . . #history #italy #ig_italia #view #skyporn #earthpix #ig_worldclub #igersitalia #instaitalia #worldplaces #historic #historical #italiainunoscatto #volgoitalia #italian_places #ig_europa #whatitalyis #igersitaly #italy_vacations #umbria #historyinpictures #italian_trips #browsingitaly #ig_italia_agosto #historicbuilding #ilikeitaly #ig_umbria #volgoumbria #fontidelclitunno #umbriatourism
